Tourism the topic at luncheon at the Croatian Embassy
Karin Palmquist

Tourism promotion was the topic when Ambassador of Croatia Ivan Grdesic hosted a luncheon on April 2. Invited to speak were Austrian Ambassador Eva Nowotny, Turkish Ambassador O. Faruk Logoglu and East West Communications President Thomas Cromwell.

Ambassador Eva Nowotny stressed that promotional campaigns must be tailored differently for different markets. Austrian campaigns for European markets promote sports and relaxation, while campaigns in the United States stress the cultural treasures of Austria, the ambassador said. Ambassador O. Faruk Logoglu spoke about developing sustainable tourism in his native Turkey, and the hurdles that has faced the industry after the terror attacks on New York and Washington. Mr. Cromwell spoke about how important it is for nations to brand themselves, to set themselves apart from the competition.
